FAQs

What does a pelvic floor PT do?
A pelvic floor PT is a licensed clinician who will examine a pregnant or postpartum person through a holistic approach. Through individualized one-on-one sessions we can perform movement analysis, strength and joint mobility assessments and more. Utilizing both internal and external assessment and treatment techniques when appropriate, to improve quality of life, and reduce pain/discomfort.

Can I bring my baby?
Yes! We know it can be hard to find child care, so your children are always welcome. We ask that you bring any toys or items you might need to help entertain the baby. A buffer time is always added in between patient sessions, to make sure we have extra time allotted in case we need to pause the session for you to feed/take care of your baby.

Is an internal exam required?
While internal examinations and treatments provide valuable information, they are NEVER required.
An internal exam or treatment is only performed when consent is provided from the patient.
Internal examinations and treatments are not always necessary, and will only be recommended if medically necessary or helpful towards patient goals.

Can I come without a physician referral?
Yes! There is direct access to physical therapy, meaning you do not need a physical referral to start physical therapy. If you are pregnant or recently postpartum, we recommend letting your doctor know you will be attending pelvic floor physical therapy, that way we can work as a team to make sure you get the best care possible.

How do I know if I should go to a pelvic floor PT ?
If you are unsure if you should be getting pelvic floor PT, we offer a free phone call consultation to answer any questions and provide you with more information.
For pelvic floor PT, although we do not require a referral, we recommend consulting with your OBGYN when choosing to start pelvic floor PT.

How many visits will I need?
At the first session, after the evaluation is complete, together we will come up with a plan of care to help you address your goals for pelvic floor physical therapy. This plan of care will include type of treatments recommended to meet your goals, as well as, amount of visits.
